Clever Critters has been helping pets and their people for over a decade in the Hampton Roads VA area. Prior to this, Associate Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist Ellen Mahurin, and current owner Sydney’s mentor, ran Clever Critters in Knoxville, TN for many years working with a wide variety of species.
Now, Sydney and her team continue to work with pets and their parents to build proactive and preventative training skills, as well as address a wide variety behavior concerns. Our services are focused on reducing stress, increasing communication, and modifying behavior through up-to-date education and quality recommendations.
As behavior professionals we use techniques that are humane, science-backed, and focus on cooperation with the pet. Though we tailor all training and behavior modification to the individual learners, the process of learning is the same for all individuals of all species.
Sydney has a background in psychology, focused on animal behavior, along with various certifications and continuing education credits. She holds her team to the same high standards for quality care and services for all pets and their people.
Our goal is to help pet parents learn more about how their pets behave and learn, and how to utilize the most effective methods to change behavior, increase communication, and cooperation for a happy household. We believe in community outreach and education, and team up with veterinarians, veterinary behaviorists, veterinary specialists, groomers, shelters, rescues, and more! Dogs On Deployment is a 501(c)(3) national non-profit which provides an online network for service members to search for volunteers who are willing to board their pets during their owner’s service commitments.
